CRA cosponsored legislation on restaurant price transparency & flexibility (SB 1524) was passed by the full Assembly and Senate Judiciary Committee
Yesterday, CRA cosponsored SB 1524 (Dodd) was passed out of the Assembly and this morning was passed in the Senate Judiciary Committee. SB 1524 will now head to the Senate floor for a final vote. The bill clarifies how restaurants must disclose charges to guests by ensuring that any mandatory gratuity, service charge, or other fees are clearly displayed on menus allowing consumers to make informed decisions. If all goes as expected, SB 1524 will head to the governor’s desk, will be signed before July 1, and would be effective immediately.
Thank you all again for taking action to write your legislators in support – you made all the difference!
In case you missed it, we have PAGA reform in print! SB 92 (Umberg) and AB 2288 (Kalra) will be voted on in the legislature this week. CRA was heavily involved in getting the biggest PAGA reforms in decades, from qualifying the November ballot initiative to our conversations with the Governor and Labor, and ultimately the final reform deal. The bills must be passed in both houses by Thursday, June 27 in time for the deadline to remove the ballot initiative from the November ballot.
